lateral files

Flat files, or lateral file storage cabinets, are useful for storing and archiving large documents such as blueprints, plans, drawings, or maps. Usually these cabinets take up a lot of floor or worktop space. Often they are ugly. What if you could mount the cabinet in a wall?

We designed, built, and installed a custom solution: two large drawers for standard file storage paired with seven lateral files. The lateral files measure 49” wide and 32” deep, providing ample safe storage for both standard size and non-standard size files. Because we were able to repurpose space from a storage area behind the office, the cabinet could be built in to the office wall.
